UT PGE No. 1 in 2020 U.S. News & World Report Rankings

UT PGE remains the No. 1 graduate program in petroleum engineering, according to the 2020 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
Texas A&M University is in the No. 2 spot and Stanford University is No. 3. The Hildebrand Department has secured the top spot of the U.S. News & World Report rankings since 2003. The magazine's graduate rankings, separate from its yearly ranking of undergraduate programs, are among the most prestigious ratings in higher education.

The 160 students, who are currently enrolled in UT PGE’s M.S. and Ph.D. graduate degree programs, are instructed by world-class faculty including four members of the National Academy of Engineering.
With $13.7 million in research funding and publishing more journal and conference papers than any other petroleum engineering program in the country, UT PGE provides students with opportunities to participate in high-caliber energy research. Ground-breaking innovations coming out of the department include technology-driven solutions for enhanced oil recovery, on-shore and off-shore drilling, sustainable and efficient methods for hydraulic fracturing, and formation evaluation.
UT Austin’s Cockrell School of Engineering ranks No. 11 among engineering schools. The Cockrell School’s aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, and environmental engineering graduate programs all rank in the nation’s top 10.
Engineering specialty rankings are based on peer assessments by department heads in each specialty area. The peer assessment surveys for the specialty area rankings were conducted in fall 2018.
