UT PGE graduate students have a variety of career choices post-graduation. You can choose to work for national research laboratories, research and development departments in industry, or teach and conduct research at top universities across the nation and abroad. Discover the resources available to you. Always remember, the best way to obtain a full-time job upon graduation is by participating in summer internships during  your tenure at UT PGE.

RESOURCES FOR OBTAINING A JOB OR INTERNSHIP

PGE students have a great resource at their fingertips to help score an internship or job. The Engineering Career Assistance Center (ECAC) housed in the Engineering school provides career expositions, mock interviews, personal career counseling, resume critique, and other services to assist current students.

Another terrific resource for obtaining a job or internship is through PGE’s student organizations. The department has several for graduate students, including: Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Graduate Student Association (PGSA). The groups provide opportunities for students to network with company recruiters at tailgates, conferences and their general body meetings.

M.S. students looking to promote themselves to industry can showcase their resume and Linked-in profile on Hire a UT PE. This is a database, where alumni and recruiters go to find interns or full-time hires. Please send the required materials for posting to the dedicated Hire A UT PE email address.

Another tremendous opportunity for graduate students to connect with industry is by presenting innovative research at energy conferences around the country and world. Talk with your graduate advisor about the conferences that best fit your expertise.
