Summer Undergraduate Research Internships
The University of Texas at Austin’s Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (UT PGE) 2026 Summer Undergraduate Research Internship (SURI) program runs from June 3 to August 7, 2026. SURI brings together innovative undergraduate minds from prestigious universities across the country to UT PGE to research hot energy topics with world-class faculty members.
Interns receive an insider look at graduate-level work conducted at UT PGE, home to the world’s top petroleum engineering program and some of the most cutting-edge energy research happening today. In addition to participating in meaningful academic research, interns learn about the diverse areas of petroleum and geosystems engineering and build strong relationships with their cohort.
About SURI
SURI is a rewarding 10-week in-person program that offers a $6,500 stipend for visiting students and also includes travel, on-campus housing and a meal card. For UT Austin students, the program offers a $7,500 stipend that doesn’t include housing and a meal card.
The SURI program is intended for students who have a strong desire to pursue an M.S. or Ph.D. in energy engineering.
Applications for SURI 2027 open in spring. Check back soon!
