About
Arash Dahi Taleghani is a professor in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering in the department and returns to UT Austin after serving as an associate professor at Louisiana State University and then as a professor at Penn State University, where he was founding director of the Center for Repurposing Energy Assets for Energy Transition (ReCET).
Dahi Taleghani’s current work focuses on drilling and completion technologies, repurposing conventional energy infrastructure for sustainable energy applications, and developing next-generation materials for extreme subsurface environments. He has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed journal articles, in addition to numerous conference publications, and secured over $10 million in research funding from the Department of Energy and industry partners. He holds 15 patents in advanced materials for subsurface applications and has been recognized as an SPE Distinguished Lecturer and recipient of the SPE Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award. He has also authored a book on well integrity.
