About
Alberto Lopez-Manriquez has more than 24 years of industry experience working as a field engineer, design engineer and technology leader on onshore and offshore drilling, completion and production projects for the Mexican national oil & gas company and for a consulting and service petroleum firm in South Texas.
After obtaining his B.S. and M.S. in petroleum engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, he came to the Hildebrand Department for his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering.
Now back as an associate professor of practice, Lopez-Manriquez has held faculty positions in three petroleum and natural gas engineering departments at universities in the United States over the last nine years and has been named “Professor of the Year” in consecutive years.
He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers as well as the Society of Alumni of the Engineering Department, National University Autonomous of Mexico. He volunteers his expertise as an expert technical reviewer for the Journal of Petroleum Science & Engineering through Elsevier, evaluating high-level papers for quality and credibility ahead of publication.
Recently, his research activities have focused on unconventional shale reservoir characterization, geomechanics and hydraulic fracturing.
