About the Distinguished Alumni Awards

The Distinguished Alumni Awards & Dinner Ceremony is the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering’s premier celebration and largest annual fundraising event. Each year, we recognize alumni whose professional achievement, leadership and service have advanced the energy industry while strengthening the legacy of UT PGE. Net proceeds from sponsorships directly fund student scholarships, helping UT PGE attract, support and develop the next generation of energy leaders.

2026 Distinguished Alumni Awards

This year’s celebration on October 16th, 2026 will hold special significance for the UT PGE community. Alongside recognizing this year’s Distinguished Alumni class, we will also honor the life and legacy of Dr. Paul Bommer—a beloved professor, passionate champion of UT PGE, longtime Distinguished Alumni Committee member and a Distinguished Alumnus himself. A special tribute during the program will celebrate the extraordinary impact his decades of teaching, mentorship and service had on generations of students and the department he helped shape. We encourage alumni, corporate partners and friends of UT PGE to join us in-person for this year’s Distinguished Alumni Weekend, which will be especially meaningful for our department.
