Energy Science and Technology Institute

July 13–17, 2026 | UT Austin

Led by UT Austin faculty, ESTI includes hands-on activities and labs, discussion sessions, breakout sessions, and online coursework that bring a focus to energy activities in Texas. Participants have the opportunity to meet faculty and discuss technology, engineering, careers and other topics in an informal setting. A variety of energy themes are covered during each workshop, such as the global energy marketplace, petroleum engineering, water-energy connection, energy portfolio mix, geothermal energy, carbon storage and hydrogen storage.

Rock Solid: Teaching with Energy

September 12, 2026 | Midland, TX

Sponsored by the Southwest Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Convention, this K–12 teacher workshop empowers educators with the necessary skills to effectively teach Earth science and energy concepts to their students through standards-aligned content. The workshop provides hands-on training, lesson plans and resources to help engage students, foster a love for science and introduce them to career opportunities in Earth science and energy. Upon completion of the workshop, each participant will receive a certificate providing 8 CPE hours.
